The Artist

Melissa Carter's passion for food and art began at an early age in her mother's kitchen. Her interest in art led her to study in various mediums both at home and abroad. All the while her interest in food continued and she created things in the kitchen whenever she could. After a high school internship at a local catering company, Melissa realized that cake design was the perfect way to combine her passion for art with her interest in food. She enrolled at "The World's Premier Culinary College" The Culinary Institute of America where she received her Bachelor's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts Management. During this time she studied privately with famed cake decorator Betty Van Norstrand. After graduation Melissa moved to New York City to work with three of the country's top cake designers. Today as the owner and designer for Bumble Bee Cake Studio, Melissa hopes to bring her artistic vision of cakes to the world.
